Family history project to share
Welcome! In this historic month of stay-at-home so that we can all be safe from CORVID-19, I've been motivated to finish this family history project to a point where I can share it with family as something to read while we wait out this virus storm.
The blog is designed to read on a laptop or desktop display; it does not have all the functions on the mobile view yet (I'm working on that). For mobile users I recommend you select "View Web Version" on the bottom of the page, that should give you access to all of the options.

- Archive of Grandma's Letters: The blog archive is at the top of the right hand column. The entries are presented in a drop down hierarchy that is dated to match the dates of letters that Grandma Mickelson sent to me. This provides the letters to readers in reverse chronological order; the older letters are at the bottom of the list.
- Grandma's Photo Pages: On the right hand column, underneath the blog archive entries, are dated photo pages with pictures of Grandma from that year. I've annotated with the basic information that I have available, so there are likely errors of spelling, dates, and names on photos. Please feel free to contact me with the form on the bottom of the page with corrections, or additional content.
- Name Tags: The left hand column has a list of tagged names of people that Grandma wrote about in each letter in the blog archive. When clicked, the tags pull up all the letters with that tag, and this feature is mostly for readers to find letters that mention a name of interest.

Grandma's Letters
One of my 2020 resolutions was to start a blog to post and reflect on family history through the letters written to me by my Grandma Ruby Pauline Mickelson.
Grandma Mickelson and I exchanged letters from 1981, when I was in college at UW-Madison, until 2005, the year she passed away at the age of 97. Her letters were always a comfort to me, and I wanted to share them with my nieces and nephews as a way to share some of the day-to-day family history through her eyes, and in her own handwritten words.
Locations, people and events are centered around the geography of Keyeser, Wisconsin.
The photo below is an aerial photo I took in October 2019 looking north at the intersection of County Highways DM and C. The Spring Prairie Lutheran Church is where our family has been baptized, confirmed, married and buried for generations.
The photo below is a view looking northwest at the intersection of County Highway DM and K. Grandma Mickelson's farm is right below the wing. My mother Diane grew up on this farm, and it is where I spent a lot of time growing up with my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Ideas explored on this blog will range widely....I'm interested in contributions from interested family and friends.
